Law Day 2026 felt different from a typical trip because it connected real law, local history, and future careers all in one place. CSIHS attended the Staten Island Bar Association’s Law Day at Historic Richmond Town, where the theme focused on the rule of law and the American Dream. Judges and attorneys spoke to our group about how the rule of law means no one is above the law and how that protects people’s rights to live freely and pursue opportunities. Hearing directly from professionals made the idea more real. They didn’t just explain legal concepts, they also talked about what their jobs are like and how students could eventually work in the legal field.
After the presentations, we toured the Richmond Town campus, which helped connect the lessons to Staten Island’s past. Walking through preserved rooms, old classrooms, and historic homes showed how laws shaped daily life over time. The courtroom-style discussion combined with the historical setting made the experience more memorable. It wasn’t just listening to speeches, it felt like stepping into the environments where law, community, and history all intersect. By the end, the trip gave me and my peers a better understanding of the rule of law, possible careers in law, and a deeper appreciation for Staten Island’s history.
